White Wagtail

Scientific Name: Motacilla alba

Population Estimate: 50M - 500M

Range / Habitat: A bird of open country that breeds throughout much of Europe and Asia and parts of north Africa. It is resident in the mildest parts of its range, but otherwise migrates to Africa.

Field Notes: Small, solitary birds, grey above and white below. Long tail which they are constantly flicking, showing a flash of white. Black cap and throat with otherwise white head.

Personal Notes: Originally seen throughout Iceland. Later seen in Spain.
