Scientific Name: Larus atricilla

Range: Year-round throughout the Gulf coast. Will extend up the Atlantic in the summer, and found throughout Mexico in the winter.
Field Notes: Small, black-headed gull. Rarely found inland. Non-breeding plumage as above. Breeding plumage would have completely black head with dark red bill. Differentiated from similar Franklin's Gull primarily by distribution.
